β 2-microglobulin (naturally extracted and recombinant)

β 2-microglobulin is a light chain component of MHC class I molecules, with a molecular weight of approximately 11.8 kDa and composed of 99 amino acids. The gene is located on human chromosome 15 (15q21.1) and does not require glycosylation, making it suitable for expression in the prokaryotic system.

β 2-microglobulin can maintain the structural stability of MHC class I molecules and participate in antigen presentation and immune response. Through glomerular filtration and proximal tubular reabsorption in the kidneys, serum levels can reflect renal function.

Product Applications:

1. Clinical Diagnosis:

Biomarkers: Elevated levels in serum and urine indicate renal dysfunction (such as tubular injury), multiple myeloma, or lymphoma.

Starch like degeneration: In long-term hemodialysis patients, β 2m aggregation leads to dialysis related amyloidosis (DRA), manifested as joint lesions.

2. Research purposes:

 Immunological research: used to reconstruct MHC class I molecules and study T cell recognition mechanisms.

 Protein interactions: exploring the binding with FcRn, HFE proteins, etc.

 Starch like mechanism: Study the formation and inhibition strategies of β 2m fibers.
